Water is a force of life, beauty, and destruction, its fluidity and power shaping our world. My series of cubes explores water’s many forms, from its natural movement to its fragility in the face of human impact. One, carved and stained blue, captures the permanence of water’s presence in nature. The plastic cube, textured to mimic the ocean, highlights the intersection of nature and pollution. Scattered debris embedded within the piece reflects the balance disrupted by human impact. The fabric-draped cube with a diving Barbie and water droplets embodies the playful, immersive experience of water, a reminder of the surreal qualities of submersion. The plaster “ice cube” sealed in resin, represents water’s frozen state, slowly dripping, echoing the urgent reality of climate change. Together, these sculptures engage in a conversation about water’s beauty, movement, and the consequences of our actions.
